7NT On a Double Squeeze

I declared this hand at Long Beach Regional after an artificial strong club bidding sequence made me the declarer at 7NT as South.

After a diamond lead, I ran the clubs discarding a heart and two spades from my hand. The run of clubs squeezed West out of the heart stopper, while East discarded spades to protect Q and K.  After the clubs, I played a spade from the dummy, now squeezing East in hearts and diamonds, a non-simultaneous double squeeze.

7NT is cold for North but can be beaten by a heart lead if South is the declarer (a lead Zia might find). A heart lead by West ruins the timing of the squeeze as there is no good discard for South on the run of the clubs. If North is the declarer, a small heart lead by East results in a simple squeeze of East in hearts and diamonds, while an inspired Q lead results in a simple squeeze of West in the majors.

I wasn't supposed to declare this hand as we were sitting East-West but the director moved us to North-South before the session as the North-South direction had too many strong players and he wanted to balance the field. So I thanked him after the session for giving me the opportunity to declare this cool hand. If I had been East, maybe I would have found the 8 bid, which is a good sacrifice against 7NT Smile.
