A variety of Morton’s Fork

This hand came up in the very first ACBL daylong tournament on bbo. The robot lead the Q, and I played up to QJ of diamonds twice and played a third diamond and was sad to see that the K was off.

A friend and I both played this board and went down in 6 because of what we thought was “bad luck”(considering this was an 80 pct contract on our line) and we thought the winning line was unrealistic. Although, I did think this was a cool position, the fact that you can play up to diamonds twice and then revert to s to take 12 tricks. This was before talking to my dad(an expert) when he said that after leading up to diamonds twice the declarer should now take the heart finesse because the hand that has ducked their A rates to have 4 diamonds. This was a lesson well learned, and a neat position.
