An intersting declarer play from the championship

I played this hand with Eva Csiby in the last round of the pairs championship, against Gyorgy Szász and Janos Geller, former national players of Hungary. It reminds me to a hand on the bridgemaster 2000, still I don't remember exactly, what kind of Coup is it. May be the Guillemard Coup. Anyway, I find it important, showing the greatest respect to the founder.

Let's see, what had happened.

My 1NT opening as South was 10+-13, partner's 2D was a transfer, all other bids were natural.

The opening lead was the 6 of clubs, which gave me the possibility to put the Jack to this trick, which won the 1st trick.

Now, our only problem is, that if diamond distribution is not balanced, than we have to ruff the 4th diamond of the dummy in the hand before taking all the trumps from the opps. Therefore it is a need to duck a small diamond in trick 2.

There are some signs to do it without cost: There was no diamond lead, so West seems to have at least 2 diamonds, and on the other hand, he showed a single suiter hand, so East also seems to have at least 2 diamonds too.

So I ducked a small diamond in trick 2, putting the 9, because sometimes opps are sleeping, West won it with the Queen.

Now he played a small spade to East's King and my Ace. It was also an important trick, it showed, that West doesn't have Queen and Jack of spades, so East has at least 1 more spade, so I can go to the dummy, ruffing a spade with a small heart later.

I cashed the Ace and King of hearts, and recognized the bad distribution, but it was a great news, that West had the singleton 10 of hearts.

Now I cashed the King and Ace of diamonds, and I ruffed the 4th diamond in my hand, I played a club to the King, and played the Jack of hearts. East could win it, but I collected all the other tricks, ruffing a spade with the three of hearts in the dummy and playing the 9 of hearts.

This declarer play brought a 85 % score, despite it was lay down 11 tricks.

There were 16 results, 2 tables played 3NT making 10 tricks, scoring 20 out of 30 points !!! and a pair played 6H -1. There were 12 times 4H contract, mostly played by North, 4 times 11 tricks, 8 times 10 tricks were made and there was a bye.
