Another Bot Tip: Buy a Ticket!

Another bot tip, this time loudly hinted upon in an old Jewish joke. A poor Jew in his prayer pleads: Yahweh, my daughter is already twenty three, I have no dowry for her and my business is not doing well. Please let me win a thousand rubles at a lottery! A loud voice from above: Moishe, give me a chance - buy a ticket! The same advice applies to playing with bots - I often see humans against bots giving up in hopeless contracts or not fighting enough for overtricks in kosher ones. Since defensive skills of BBO bots are unique, plainly giving them opportunities to make an error yields high payoffs with astonishing frequency. Here are two examples from just declare BBO tourney:

The first hand is really funny. All but two players out of around 40 went all possible tricks down for -400. I bought a ticket, which happened to induce a few pitches from the long suit for the top. I don't get why it was so difficult to try to minimize losses in a hopeless contract - W. Robot would always lead spades from the suit off the ace.

In the second one I bought a ticket for 90%, again difficult to understand why so few players didn't find a play that couldn't cost.
