Bad Habits of Intermediates

I may be offering some instruction for serious Intermediates in the near future. Possibly one day a week on Declarer Play and one day on Bidding. Defense will have to wait. As far as Bidding is concerned, I do NOT want to talk about convention, more on general principles. Also, I am going to insist that they bring a regular partner to the Bidding instruction.

I think the first thing I need to do is focus on breaking some bad habits and mis-perceptions. E.g.

1) 1-1-4 is a shutout bid

2) Leading the Q with Q642 opposite A873

3) Stolen bid doubles

4) Kennedy Club

5) Last, but certainly not least, “I don’t play reverses.”

What do you see Intermediates doing wrong over and over? Any suggestions appreciated.
