This was the deal referred to earlier in the Cohern theme today.

1996 WC QF; perhaps the baddest of beats I've ever seen.

At the eight tables in the women's QF nobody made their heart contract --some played six some played seven, most played four.

The Austrians played 3NT and wrapped it up.

Heather Dhondy was one of the unlucky ones on the action shown. She won the top spade lead and played to ruff spades in dummy and the defenders scored all four trumps on a cross-ruff to set the game. Had the swing gone the other way England would have won the match.

Everyone who played the heart game in the open series also went down.
