This is perhaps a question of temperament and match philosophy.
Towards the end of a disappointing weekend something good happens. You can practically write down the distribution of all the hands. 4NT showed the minors. Do you
(a) double; It's about time we brought in a good score - this could be enormous. They may very well not run, and even if they do, in 5♦x the play will go ♠, ♣-ruff, ♠-ruff, ♣-ruff. Teammates may well be in the same boat.
(b) pass; It's about time we brought in a good score. Better not risk it. They may go more down undoubled anyway. What if partner leads a ♥ against 5♦x?
Plus... it's free!
