(sorry for the typo in the heading)
I didnt have the spots in front of me but I think the general idea is right. Common game on Tuesday (others can fix if they feel like it).
You don't need to sneer at the auction -- you can if you like since it was our opponents. On a diamond lead I think you can combine the chances pretty well.
Win the diamond and lead a heart to the eight then cross back to dummy and run the ♥J. you will know what your target is from clubs one way or another.
So far so good, I was defending and never saw declarer's hand which I thought was as shown here. Can anyone find a way to maximize chances?
After the same start when you run a heart losing to an honor and a diamond comes back what is the best play now?
(And how would your answer change if the spade nine was the seven?)
