Analysis by (Unknown User)

This hand will have varying contracts and results. For pairs playing weak 2, South will probably open 2 in second seat vulnerable. There is no way to predict the final result but 5 might be a popular contract. If West leads his singleton club, South should win and lead a diamond to the jack. With careful play and a good guess in spades, this contract will make. However, if declarer draws trumps and leads a spade to the king, the contract will fail. For those fortunate enough not to be playing 2 as weak, the auction should go 3 passes to North who will open 1 in fourth seat. South will likely bid 1 NT and now North will bid 3. South can preference spades but could bid 3, as that is where all his points are located. North may now bid 3NT which will be the top spot. Even if East finds the slightly unlikely lead of the K, there are 9 tricks for the taking. You just have to close your eyes and lead a hopeful diamond to the jack! A plus score in either 3NT or 5 should be a near top board.
