Analysis by Craig Hemphill

A few pairs will bid slam -- 23 HCP opposite 8 HCP and a weak five card suit... But maybe South will make a gentle invitation and North, despite minimum values for 2 - 2; 2NT, might just accept South's 4NT invitation with all of those controls and working values.

Then it is up to declarer simply to take the percentage play in clubs to reel in the twelve available tricks -- requiring 3-2 clubs with the queen onside (34%) or the singleton Q in either hand (5.6%). In any notrump contract, regardless of level, declarer should win the opening lead in hand, cash the A or K, travel to dummy, take the club finesse, cash the last club, and return to dummy to collect three spades, two hearts, two diamonds, and five clubs.

Notice, please, the importance of those intermediate clubs in a slam contract!
