Analysis by Robert Todd

East passes and South opens 1. West also passes and North starts with a (semi-)forcing 1NT, intending to jump to 3 next to show his 3-card limit raise. South rebids 2, and so when North does now bid 3, South will have to decide whether to go or not. With just 12 HCP and only an 8-card fit, he probably passes, even with the singleton.
It will be a good stop if the defense plays correctly - as long as they don't let the declarer get away with losing only 1 by not capturing the K or Q with the A, he should lose 2 and 2.
