Analysis by Craig Hemphill

South has 4333 pattern and eight losers -- not accepting game tries with that sort of hand.

To make four, declarer must double finesse in spades and find the J. some may make just eight tricks NS, let alone ten.

Of course, finding the J may be a matter of technique, if the play leads to a succesful discovery of the trump suit, then an endplay may be engineered after trumps are resolved. Thus,

Heart to the ace and a heart back, won by declarerl
Spade to the ten.
Diamond to the ace
Spade to the queen.
Spade.
Diamond won by declarer
Heart ruffed (important and necessary!!)
Diamond.

Now the defense must open the clubs, to their detriment, or provide a ruff-sluff for contract.

Good technique beats good guessing. (Plus luck in the trump suit, of course!)
