Partner leads the 4, fourth best. From four small your partnership would lead a high one, but from five small partner might lead his fourth highest to try and get you to continue the suit.

Upon inquiry, it is discovered that declarer can hold four spades in any balanced shape. Rebidding 1 would have suggested an unbalanced hand.

The play proceeds:

1. 4, 10, J, K

2. 5, 6, K, 2

3. 8, 3, J, 10

4. 3, 7, K, A

Despite the failure of either you or your partner to high-low in diamonds, your carding is generally standard, no Smith.

What's your play and why?
