The opening lead is the 3 to the Q, K, and 8.

You'd like to do two things.  You'd like to tell partner than when you play the 7 it's a singleton, and you'd like to know if partner has the Q.  Of course, if partner has the hoped-for A or maybe K, declarer will almost surely have the Q because his already-anemic overcall will have at most the K, K, and J.  Not much for a vulnerable overcall on a moth-eaten suit.

What if anything should you do before playing the 7?
