Note: I have edited the following 2 lines to include the failure to alert information.
NS play reverse Bergen and there is a failure to alert that 3S is weak until the bidding is over.
With 9 points and 1.5 stoppers in their 9+ card suit, would you bid 3NT knowing 3S is weak?
Before you make a comment asking why this is not a bidding poll.
It is because the polling answers are specific (3NT or not) and I also want to know how experts would bid and how common players like myself would bid.
Please go straight to answer the poll first before you read my clarification on what actually happened. This board happened in D21 GNT Open first round yesterday.
---------------------
South forgot to alert the 3S bid being weak, then Director was called before first lead was made.
Below is the whole board.
First lead diamond and South quickly made 3S with 3 spade losers and a heart loser.
Director then asked EW (after the board is played) what they would do knowing 3S is weak.
East first said may be 4C, then they may pasibly bid 4D, after some back and forth, West decided he would bid 3NT.
At the end of the round, director came over saying after polling the experts playing GNT Open flight, she decided to award 3NT make 3 to EW.
If you were the director, would you rule 3NT make 3 after EW first answer was 4C (or even 4D)?
At the other table, North bid 2S and our teammates passed it out.
