Holding this 5413 hand, you decide to pattern out with 3, pinpointing your diamond shortness so partner can better evaluate. Almost immediately after partner's 3, though, you return to Earth and remember that your first 3 level bid in this situation (game force, no fit, our side's first-time 3 level bidder has already showed a primary 5+ card suit) is a transfer, so your 3 bid actually showed a DIAMOND fragment and short clubs.

What are your ethical and legal obligations here? And perhaps more importantly, what do you think theyshould be?

Legally and ethically required to inform opponents of failure to alert
Legally required to inform, but ethically should say nothing
Legally required to say nothing, but ethically should disclose
Legally and ethically required to say nothing
