Getting a board back

During the Fast Pairs, I had a total mind loss on a hand and let the opponents score up 4X when the defense to beat it was crystal clear.

Instead of brushing it off and just "playing bridge", I succumbed to the temptation to chase the loss and try to get it back on the next board by doing something weird.

I was in 4 on the lead of a top diamond. If spades are 3-2, I have ten top tricks and can just lead up to the club king for 11, but that won't get me any kind of good board. Blinded by my stupid desire to chase losses, I came up with a layout where I could make more tricks than the field.

After pulling TWO rounds of trumps only, I cashed three top hearts, and saw my LHO discard on the third round. So far so good. Now the fourth round of hearts, pitching a diamond from dummy, as RHO follows the whole way, and finally I exited a diamond. LHO had to win it and break clubs from the Queen.

An awful line of play, truly, but an example of what can happen when you're on tilt and chasing. Sometimes you just strike gold.
