Great time in Washington DC!`

Just drove back home to NY from the first weekend at the Nationals, and I am so wired that I can't go to bed!  Hence this post.

I though the tournament was very well ran (I was there F, Sat & Sun.).  Everything started on time, but for the first session of the LM Pairs, because everyone has to shmooze...  There were many youngsters, and that was nice to see.  I played a morning one session event against a father and son who couldn't be more then 12 and was playing Meckwell light, very endearing to watch this, and envious that my father didn't do the same for me :(

The only sore point to an otherwise great weekend is the following.  I don't know how off I am, so I am asking for some input.

Playing with a partner who is attending his first NABC, and who was a bit nervous, we got into the following situation.  Needless to say, it is against a pro and his client...

The 2NT bid was alerted, and so was the 3 bid.  After the 4 bid, the client, who is the partner of the 4 bidder, at his turn, inquires about 2NT.  He is told that it is a transfer to .  He then asks about the 3 bid.  He is told, rather awkwardly by partner, that it is a negative, that I am not loving , which is true.  He doesn't ask what tupe of hand super accepts, nothing of the sort.  The auction ends, and during the play, the client mis defends not taking his A.  I end up pitching two 's on the 's and make 4.

As soon as the hand is over, the pro asks his partner if he had the A.  When he finds out that he does, he calls the director over and claims that there was UI by the answer that my partner gave over the explanation of 3, and that I somehow had been woken up!

Does he have a point?  I personally thought this was outrageous, and still believe so.  It really felt that since they lost the board on play, they would try to win it by legalese.  Opinions welcomed.

Thank you.
