How the Street Team picked up 55 imps in segment 5
(Page of 6)

In segment 5 of the USA2 Senior finals the Street team was impressive. Here are a few of the boards as problems for your pleasure.

Board 3. A nebulous 1 (2+ less than 16 HCP)  on your right, do you bid? If so what?

You choose not to overcall the 1 bid and partner shows the blacks, your choice?

You choose 4 and partner bids the vulnerable game, a swing to the Street team, because your teammates find the 5 save. Your hand overcalled 1 at the other table and so the opponents had an easier time finding the diamond fit since North did not feel obliged to bid hearts.

On the next board the opponents double 3NT which you make, perhaps a club lead would have made it more difficult? You be the judge, Another 8 imps to Street

Have you decided on a plan over partner's Precision 2? In my experience, bidding slightly light when you have one or both majors usually works out well over this 2, but the stiff club is worrisome, less safety. So 2 asking? or 2 constructive? Which? Scroll down when you are ready.

So you choose to ask with 2 and partner says no major but not minimum. You force with 3 and get to a vul game that makes, missed in the other room (Thanks Josh for the auction corrections).

On board 6, a poor shift lets through a non vul game for another Street pickup

Pass is the winner. Another fine decision by Wold. Whatever you bid is down a few and probably doubled. This should have been -180 but declarer lost his way and you collected 100 for another pickup

The full hand records will be posted at http://usbf.org/docs/vugraphs/USSBCUSA22015/Bracket.php?stage=Finals
