The middle part of a not very good session:
3♠? 4♠?, 5♣ or what?
At the time I felt that the 3 extra clubs probably made 5♣ a value bid - 6 loser hand with a good fit
So I bid 5♣
Presumably my partner has two places to play (♠ and ♦) - with 4 card support the bid is obvious: 5♠ (there is an argument for 6♠ as partner has bid 5♠ without the A♠ but I was taught to be cautious)
There is also the possibility that partner is cue bidding diamonds in support of clubs. We have no agreement however if partner is doing that then he will accept 5♠ as showing A♠
This has to be a GSF: My response is 6♥ showing the Ace or King (of spades presumably) but no Queen
Well partner must be going for the top pairs score.
The final result was 6NT - 7 for EW - 700 (The only way to get a 700)
Why was this average plus?
There were 3: 5♦X - 4 = -1100 and 2: 5♦X -3 = -800
Ain't life grand
