Partner is a sound club level player but unimaginative. Opps are average sloppy club players. Your are E at Imps.

You E have available 2NT for the minors and Dbl for a single minor suit. What call do you make?

You choose Pass. You also choose Pass over 2. Auction ends as above.

9 Q K 6?

What should you E play?

You choose the 4. Declarer pitches a club, draws trump ending in dummy, pitches another club on the A, ruffs a club, and leads the 4. Partner rises with the A managing to hold declarer to 5.

Should W have led the A?

Is Declarer's play of the Q irrational or brilliant?

This is the first real deal I posted with the 10 switched.

Should W have led the A?

Probably. As it is, E thinks that W knows the H distribution so is unlikely to have the A. The choice of the 9 seems more like a singleton from E point of view.

Is Declarer's play irrational or brilliant?

Yes.
