Is the Best Defense Double Dummy?

This hand presented an interesting defensive problem which my partner and I failed to solve.  Can you do better?  I will post a solution to the problem in the next day or two.

West leads the A and partner encourages with the 6 (UDCA, standard suit preference and standard present count) and declarer plays the 3.  East wins the second  with the K (declarer following with the 8) and returns the J to declarer's Q.  What is your defensive plan?
