Join Bridge Winners
Is there a good reason to declare an overall winner comparing both directions?

I don't see the point of this.  The best thing about duplicate is that you are theoretically playing the same cards and same opponents as your opposition.     I just think the N/S winner and E/W winner should be rewarded equally.    If you have to pick a winner, why not go and see how they did head to head and who did better overall on those boards.      A poorly-distributed strength in one direction over another might even make it impossible for one direction to beat another.

Obviously, this is not a big issue in the world of bridge, but I always try and win my direction and don't think much about the "overall" winner, since I find it as comparable as the % game in a completely different event.   Different hands, different opponents.

Or am I missing something?
