Just a couple of pushes
(Page of 2)

At a recent regional, my team experienced a couple of rather funny and unusual push boards. I will not reveal the other players involved, for obvious reasons. Please don't take these as anything more than amusing anecdotes, not intended to embarrass anyone or teach any serious bridge lesson.

Our teammates eventually doubled 4 which was an easy make. At our table...

I overcalled 3 over a strong club opening. East cuebid 4 but West wasn't paying attention and passed. I led spades and we failed to get our heart ruff. But -590 and +600 was a push (and we won the hypothetical BAM comparison!)

This hand came up later the same week.

The auction was natural, and for the most part pretty understandable. West lost the obvious tricks to go down three. Meanwhile, at our table...

We easily took 12 tricks after the club lead.

+790 and -800? You guessed it, just another push (and this time, sadly, a loss at BAM).
