Learned to play bridge in 1958 by reading "Point Count Bridge Complete" by Charles Goren. Started playing duplicate in 1960. Conservative: I still believe in "opening bid facing opening bid should offer a good play for game" which restricts my notions of what constitutes an opening bid. Read more »In his editorial in the November Bulletin Brent Manley states he is looking to create a list of the 52 most influential bridge people over the 75 years of the ACBL's existence. I think this is an endeavor that Bridge Winners could contribute to.
I wrote and said that I thought Ely Culbertson and Charles Goren should top any list.
I then said that Edgar Kaplan would be third on mine.
