This is from yesterday's practice tournament.  All three robots did inexplicable things.

I opened 1H and the robot raised to 2H.  All well and good.

Rather than balance with a double, RHR (right-hand robot) bid 2S on a four-bagger.

With a nice playing hand and no defense, I raised myself to 3H.

LHR, with only two spades and lots of defense, bid 3S(?!).

My robot partner, with K9873 of spades and an outside Ace, did *not* double 3S.

When 3S came back to me, I had no idea what to do.  I had no defense and way too many losers to bid 4H.  So I passed 3S.

I led the KH.  Robot declarer, with Axx opposite a singleton... ducked(?!).

Eventually the robot misguessed diamonds and ended up down two.  I get +100.  This was worth 93.6% of the matchpoints since 3H is down one and the robots can misguess diamonds but still make 3D easily.

I had to look at what other people were doing.  Almost everyone faced the auction of 1H - P - 2H - 2S.  A little less than half did as I did - bid 3H, then passed 3S.  Most of those defending 3S ended up leading or switching to the Queen of diamonds, depriving the robot declarer a guess in that suit.  One person set the contract three tricks by continuing hearts, then ducking(?!) when the robot led a spade to the Ten, which for some reason convinced the robot to abandon trump and instead set up more tricks for the defense.

Lots of people bid 4H and went down two or more.  So the robot's insane antics worked to its advantage in those instances.

I just had to shake my head after this result.  How exactly do you prepare for results like this?

I guess I shouldn't complain too loudly since I got a great result by just letting the robot shoot itself in the foot.
