Poll: Is “Plain Blackwood” Ever Played by “High-Level” Pairs?

As I have said before, I am a pretty new player.  Nonetheless, with my regular partners as well as 95% of “pickup” partners on BBO, I play 1430 as the primary method for exploring a possible slam.  And based on casual observation, 1430 strikes me as the norm for most players these days.  I always assumed ”Plain Blackwood“ was only played by new players.

So it came as somewhat of surprise to me when I read the bridgebum.com entry on Roman Keycard Blackwood (RKC) stating:

“American expert Marty Bergen says that he asked 60 top pairs which Blackwood variant they use. 8 use plain Blackwood, 8 use RKC 0314, and an overwhelming 44 use RKC 1430.”

(As you will see if you click the below link, the claim is backed up on the site by a citation of Bergen‘s 2008 book titled “Slam Bidding Made Easier.”)

I’ve linked the full entry below.

Anyhow, what surprised me was the fact that any “top pairs,” even if it was only eight out of 60 (13%) reported using “Plain Blackwood” (hereafter ”PB”).  I am NOT, to be clear, saying that because I think I ”know better“ than these pairs.  I am saying it only because it seems that literally all of the long-time bridge players I’ve encountered really seem to discourage PB and encourage 1430 or 0314 (usually the former, as seems to be backed up by Bergen‘s survey).

So that leads me to my poll question: Many people on BW (myself most certainly excluded) are very experienced Bridge players who have played in “high-level“ events.  Do any of you prefer PB over 1430/0314 and if so, what is the rationale?  Or more broadly, do any of you know of expert pairs (not asking for names) that use PB instead of an RKC system?

Once again, my curiosity arises from seemingly being exposed to just one point of view on PB vs. RKC, so wanted to hear the other side.

UPDATE: I notice that the second choice listed has received a total of two votes, both of which are from very highly-accomplished players saying they play PB. I'd be highly interested in hearing from either one of them in the comments section, but I also understand that people often have better things to do than post on internet forums :-).

I personally play some form of RKC (1430 or 0314) but have RECENTLY (within the last five years) seen other expert pairs play PB in “high-level” events/competitions.
I personally play PB and have done so when competing in “high-level” events/competitions.
I personally play some form of RKC and have never seen other pairs play PB in “high-level” events/competitions.
I personally play some form of RKC (1430 or 0314) but have at some point, although NOT RECENTLY (that is, not within the last five years), seen other expert pairs play PB in “high-level” events
I personally play PB in all situations (not just in some) and have done so when competing in “high-level” events/competitions.
