Responses to 2C

2 opening is FG except after a 2NT rebid.

I currently play control-showing responses: 2 = 0-1 control, 0-4 HCP;

2 = 0-1 control, 5+ HCP; 2 and up = 2 controls and up.

Questions:

1) Is there in fact any merit in separating the 0-4 / 5+ HCP hands?

2) Although a simulation seems difficult, it appears the the semi-positive

response will be more frequent than the negative response.

On general principles therefore, should the meanings of the 2 and

2 responses be switched?

3) My inclination is to move to a more comprehensive but more complicated

response structure such as: 2 = negative or (A+K); 2 = semi-+ve or

4 controls; 2 = 2 or 5 controls; 2NT = K+K+K. thus leaving the 3-level

responses free to show (say) a 6-card suit with 2 of the top 3 honours.

Any thoughts on this from the theoreticians?
