Contract is 2 by South.

Declarer has won 4 tricks. Defense has won 3 tricks. East is on lead.

Trick 8: East leads the Ace of Diamonds and West revokes by playing the 3 of Hearts.

Trick 9: East continues with a low Diamond which West trumps with the Ten of Clubs, a second revoke in the same suit.

Trick 10: West now leads the Jack of Diamonds trumped by South.

Tricks 11-12 South wins 2 Club tricks

Trick 13 East wins the Ace of Hearts.

Result at the table 2 -1

East did not win the revoke trick, but did win the second revoke trick. Equity is a non issue as the defense has managed to compress 4 tricks into 3 and a 1 trick penalty will take them down to 2 tricks. The provision about subsequent revokes helping the offending side doesnt apply since if East follwed with the Jack of Diamonds on the second diamond they would take 4 tricks instead of 3.

The question I have is does winning the 2nd revoke trick trigger the automatic 2 trick penalty?

How may tricks would you award?

1 trick
2 tricks
neither
