Ruling & whats do you think is the best

OK - My P and I had a rare misunderstanding resulting in a ruling on the hand below.  I am wondering if others think the ruling is right and what the best use of the bid that caused the problem is :)

So in short my P as a passed hand bid 2C intending this to show a weak major two suited hand.  I did not alert this bid and when questioned by my LHO later in the auction explained the bid as Natural as this was the only way to show clubs.

My partner & I do have agreements for this bid to be conventional and show both majors (longer in hearts) for sequences where he has an un passed hand.....we had not specifically discussed a Passed hand bid.

I must highlight that I had failed to notice that our opps 1C opening promised 4+, at this stage I was assuming a 3+ club opening as there was no alert.

The opp settled in 3NT and with RHO bidding NT twice over my P's club bid, I felt there was at least a double stop in clubs against us, and went with my own suit hearts.......which led to 3nt-1

The opp were of course upset and asked for a score adjustment.....I have a few queries here.  Have they double shotted here? as they can clearly bid differently and from Norths side of the table its got to be pretty obvious that my explanation is likely at odds with my P's hand.

Was the ruling made when we have no written or previous experience of this auction correct.....they rulled it back to 5C+2

Please select options below and comment :)

Please select up to 2 choices.

The Ruling is correct - 5C+2
The Rulling is wrong - 6C+1
The Rulling is wrong - 3NT-1 stands
2C is clearly best as Michaels - what were you thinking
2C is clearly natural (you have other ways to show both majors eg dbl) - what was your Partner thinking
2C is best as something else - please comment
