Slam Hands from the Trials

I watched the Welland versus Weinstein match where there were a number of slam hands. On this hand one pair got to 6 and the other to 5 on these cards:

N ORTH
S A Q 8 6 5
H 7
D Q 8 5 3
C T 3 2

E AST
S T 9
H 9 8 5 3 2
D K T 2
C 8 7 6

S OUTH
S 4
H A K Q T 6 4
D A J 7
C A K 9

S K J 7 3 2
H J
D 9 6 4
C Q J 5 4

Frankly my partner and I would stop in a much safer 4 because we play an immediate double negative over a 2 opener: 2 which shows less than a K and a Q or a KJ in a biddable suit. Of course the weak hand would be playing it...

Here is how these hands were bid:
S OUTH W EST N ORTH E AST
Etter Cohen Kolesnik Smith
-- -- -- 2 C
Pass 2 D Pass 2 H
Pass 3 H * 1 Pass 3 S
Pass 4 D Pass 4NT
Pass 5 C * 2 Pass 6 H
Pass Pass Pass
* 1 8+ support points, but undiscussed
* 2 zero
S OUTH W EST N ORTH E AST
Garner Baseggio Hweinstein Jweinstein
-- -- -- 2 C
Pass 2 D * 1 Pass 2 H * 2
Pass 2 S Pass 3 H
Pass 4 D Pass 4 S
Pass 5 H Pass Pass
Pass
* 1 0-1 control
* 2 could be bal

How would you and your partner bid this next hand where one pair got to 5 and the other all the way to 6? To be fair the opponents were in the bidding at the table that only got to game. I gave my husband the hand with the long clubs and he splintered over my 1 opener, ignoring the spades, so we had an easy time reaching the grand. Would you?

These were the auctions, perhaps they had just too much artificiality:
