This hand occurred towards the end of what became the very close finale of the Spingold.
I could hardly believe my eyes when I saw Lindqvist's bidding: 2♠ on that pile of junk, and then 3N?? Brogeland must have known what to expect as he ran to 4♣ after the double and Bocci seemed to lose his nerve by not doubling the final contract. That would have been +800 instead of +300 and would, I believe, have won Lavazza the match. Perhaps South's 2♣ call showed some values, but the only vuegraph comments I saw were to the effect that North had a problem over 2♣. No he didn't; pass looks automatic.
