Suit Preference to help partner

Every partnership has a normal lead from AK.  Regardless of whether your partnership leads K or A from AK, leading the opposite one tells your partner, "I have doubleton AK"  These two tables have different agreements about their normal lead.  Once they have conveyed to their partner that they have doubleton AK, their partner gives them suit preference for which suit to get them in with to give them a ruff.  In the closed room Meckstroth was worried that declarer had only 2 and that he needed to establish his club trick before he set up the pitch.

Fleisher Kamil play normal suit preference, so Fleisher played the J to tell partner, I Have hearts.  In the process the J play also made it clear to his partner that Declarer had 3, so crossing in was the correct play.  In the other room, Meckstroth and Rodwell play reverse suit preference so Rodwell had to play a low to show his partner that he wanted , now it wasnt as clear that declarer had another .  Meckstroth guessed wrong and it cost 10 imps.
