We all know the perils of pre-emptively raising your partner's suit when you don't have any defense; but this had a sting in the tail too.

 

Not only do I now know that partner is short in spades...

...but also that they have an above average point count!

 

This is because we don't open 1  (can be as few as 1, forcing, 11+ hcp no better bid)

unless our hand satisfies the Rule of 15 (hcp+spades); and they wouldn't count a stiff spade honour (unless it was the ace).

So it now looks as though we have 26 points of what has become a 30 point deck.

Since our partner has not made any subsequent moves since opening they must have a club suit.

 

Even though I wimped out in 5 (6 can't be touched) we still scored 93% on the hand.
