The New Three-card Limit Raise in 2/1
(Page of 2)

As a recent convert to the 2/1 system I was struck by the bulkiness of the three-card limit-raise of a major.

Following the precept that invitational bids should be made at the two-level wherever possible, thought the following might be an improvement.

1 Heart - 2 Clubs is a puppet to 2 Diamonds by an unpassed hand.

2 Diamonds - 2 Hearts is a three-card limit-raise. (says nothing about clubs)

2 Spades is GF with four spades and five clubs.

2NT is GF with 3=2=3=5 distribution.

3 Clubs is GF with six clubs.

3 Diamonds GF with four diamonds and five clubs.

3 Hearts is GF with three hearts.

1 Spade - 2 Clubs is a relay to 2 Diamonds by an unpassed hand.

2 Diamonds - 2 Spades is a three-card limit-raise. (says nothing about clubs)

2 Hearts is GF with four hearts and five clubs.

2NT is GF with 2=3=3=5 distribution.
