"The Verona incident was simple-We came 2nd-the Chinese pair that won played 8 boards against their countrymen in the final session which is an absurdity. They averaged over 98% on those boards and the things that happened on those boards were without concience [sic]. They beat us by 1/2 a board. The organizers and leaders that be from all over the world wanted no part of this controversy, although they were aware of everything."

NB: I can see only three pairs from China; it looks as though Fu-Zhao played four boards, not eight, against fellow-Chinese.
