The "guaranteed" entry date for the Women's and Senior Trials has now passed, and we therefore know the formats for both events. In both events, one additional team may enter before May 18th because that would not change the format.
The Senior's has 15 teams and will be a KO competition from the start. The top-seeded team (we don't have seeding points from ACBL yet, so don't know which team that will be) will have a bye in the Round of 16. All KO matches will be 90 boards long and played over 1.5 days.
The Women's has 8 teams, one of whom has a bye to the Semi-finals. It will start with a 2 day Round Robin to select the other 3 Semi-finalists.
For more information, go to www.usbf.org and click on 2012 Senior Trials or 2012 Women's Trials under the Tournaments Menu.
We'll be showing the Seniors on Vugraph all the way through. In response to your overwhelming vote about whether to play the same boards in the Quarterfinal, we will do so. Each team will play a different set of boards in the Round of 16, because they will be playing in one ballroom where there is not enough separation between tables to play the same boards in all matches.
Plus... it's free!
