VS 1NT

No this is not a new defence VS ONT opening, you just combine the best of DONT and RIPSTRA already well known.

For Keeping the biding at the2-level use DONT.

To minimise the risk of misfit use RIPSTRA

What you need in second seat:

1) a shortness, singleton or void, if not PASS !! pass is not dead, it is not even pass would say Faulkner, it isnot mute, if third seat pass it tells your partner that you are strong without shortness,he can overcall with nothing or close to nothing.

2) suit of good quality 2 big cards or only 1 but with strong spot cards : 10,9

3) some working HCP how many ? I suggest as a guideline to add your 2 longer suits to your working HCP to reach a total of 18, so with 5,5 + 8HCP =18, with (5+4 or 6+3) 9 +9 HCP 18 with 4,4,4,1 =8 + 10 hcp = 18                 add 1HCP when vuln

now lets go:

-2♣,,= ♣,,+ ♦, or + 1Mj 6,4 you can pass with -2♣

,,2♦,= ♦, + 1Mj ♥,or ♠- 6,4 same

-2 ♥ = 6 ♥, or 5♥,4 min,3,1singl

-2♠, = same,

X = Ripstra = ♥,+♠ + a minor tolerance 2,3,4 cards       = 4+4 (4,1) or 5,4-(3,1) or 5,5(2,1)

Responses are:

R-pass = 2=2Mj + strong stoppers on both minors X=> penalty.

R-2♦, ask for the longer Mj = Mj 3,2 2,1 2,2 ect

R-2Mj=3cards+

R-2♣, = (1-1)Mj + 5,6 minors = asking for the minor tolerance, part pass if toler 2♣,, or correct to 2♦,

4 th seat overcall non vuln always with a sing, , or also with 2 Dbt (5.4.2.2 or 6.3.2.2.)

exceptions to the 2-level are tow suited 6,5 hands for witch there is not outside tolerance but you cannot afford to pass with 5HCP

-2NT= tow touching suits 6,5: ♣,+ ♦,or  ♦ + ♥,  or  ♥+♠

-3 ♣,,= 6,5   ♣,+ ♠-

after– 4th--X , or - b 1suit – if O 'rebid second seat X= penalty 16+h 2 stoppers in any color

VS a weak NT be more lax
