We play 2 as an asking bid after 1m-1-2. The 3 response showed 3 card support and a max. One of the downsides of this treatment is there is only one choice of game bid below 3NT after the 3 response. I chose to make the 3 squeeze bid. My partner, recognizing I might not want to ruff many times from AQ8, offered a choice of games with her 4 bid.

Since it is matchpoints, I chose the game. The opponents led a trump to cut down ruffs, not recognizing the implications of the 4 bid. I placedthe J withNorth, and set up the s. It would have been ugly if South had led the 9 from J9x.

I added a couple of comments to help organize the discussions. Thanks to all who share their ideas.
