Why do these guys cheat?

If for the money, aren't there ways to make money that profane something less holy?

If for the prestige, what's the prestige in a championship attained by circumvention of the rules?

I don't get it.

But then I never see the point in these articles that talk about how outraged supposedly socialist students get when the professors average all the grades or otherwise demean the supposed reward system of college. (I was always in college just for the joy of learning. And never got very good at grabbing rewards, by the way.)

I play bridge because I love to play bridge. Cheating at bridge is not playing bridge. (The only card game I would "cheat" at is "I doubt it" or "Bull*)(*" where cheating is kind of baked into the rules.)

So enlighten me. What's the payoff?
