Thank you for asking! I have a partner. However, she wasn’t feeling well this morning and if she isn’t well Sunday morning she will take the day off. So if that happens, I will check back with you in case you are still looking.

I need games all the rest of the week. I’m on a 5-man team in tomorrow’s daylight Swiss so potentially open for something else.

I guess If I were playing with Charley I would bid 5S. He would be looking for first or second round control of hearts, which we don’t have.

I don’t know enough about playing a limited opener system. Does 5D suggest partner is shapely with a maximum? Or looking to sacrifice? Would it have been bid without the interference? Was forcing pass on? Etc. I’ll be interested to see what other people say.

My partner didn’t double so it passed out at 5C. I wanted to but South could have all the rest of the points.

And it works as an advance cuebid for diamonds.

Since 2 suits are shown, I’ll show the one where I have a stopper. I would rather declare 3nt from my side but Qxx isn’t enough.

The double, by partnership agreement shows exactly 4-4 majors. I bid just 1S because partner could stretch to make the call. But I will bid on if necessary and will bid game if invited.

It's basically unusable on a smartphone or moderately sized tablet. Thank you Chris for bringing that up.

I agree. I have enjoyed mixed events because my regular partner is my husband so we're eligible for open or mixed events, but it seems obvious to me that open events should take precedence.

What is the point of a mixed event? There's nothing to prevent mixed pairs or teams from competing in open events. Do people think that a mixed pair or team is in some way inferior to an unmixed pair or team? I don't buy that as a valid premise. I vote for inclusivity.

But Charley would bid 2C.

I agree. We might even take it a step further and pre-print pads with a structure that helps identify when a sequence of bids provides specific information. For example: my partner and I play that 1S - 2N! shows either a 3-card limit raise with unspecified shortness or a 3-card balanced raise 16+. We won't know which it is until responder bids again (or passes). As each bid is alerted, the auction could be documented with a comment for each questioned call (or sequence). And what about having a set of prepared flash cards to provide to opponents to explain very specific agreements? You could even do them in multiple languages.
