This should ABSOLUTELY have been done. The ACBL's refusal to come into the modern world is one of the many things choking the game we love.

How the hell do you do this to people on this short notice?

**** the ACBL.

Many, many moons ago I was playing in a club game, and one opponent got back to the table a couple of minutes after the round started. My partner jokingly said “We played them for you already. All three boards, in 7NT making.”

I think you might know the nest sentence… :)

No, Peg, but attitudes like yours–which I'm shocked to see from a player of your ability and experience–surely will kill the game.

If you think looking at hands yet to be played is a “less serious” form of cheating, I don't think I'd want to play in any game you run, sorry.

There is a difference between “doing something wrong” and cheating.

When I say level I mean level of EVENT, from a club game to the NABC's.

ANY ACBL-sanctioned event.

The average age is 72. There's no point to having Senior events that exclude a small percentage of the membership. If the age limit were say 65+, or even 70+, that would make a bit more sense.

Lack of events to play in? Low table counts at side events during senior tournaments, WHEN they're even made available?

That's funny, because I was just about to type that I was amazed at how many 2S bids there were :)

Once every two weeks. Unfortunately, neither my wife or I drive, and we've moved to Mesa, AZ, about 20+ miles from each of the two big bridge clubs in the area.

One would hope that in that unlikely event you'd kick them right to the curb as they deserve. Don't think you need another two card fees THAT badly.

I was semi-joking–that's a windmill I've tilted at here on more than one occasion (Multi to the GCC). I do think the convention charts need to be greatly liberalized.

Multi 2D to the General Chart/Open Chart is the first order of business.

To become a LM you must win an event (Gold Rush or better).

Open club games MUST allow at least the full GCC/Open Chart.

You get found to have cheated in an ACBL-sanctioned event–ANY event–you are barred for life. No second chances.

How about a Winter Goldmans, but scored at IMP pairs?

Many, many moons ago, I played in our District KO final of the Flight C GNT. We were down after each of the first three quarters, but with 16 boards to go we winnowed the deficit to 19 IMP's.

My partner and I had a huge final set. Looked like we were sure winners. Then our teammates came back to the table, and it became quickly apparent one of them had been just trying to get out of there as fast as he could. To the point where I strongly suspected deliberate bad play. I was furious. I can tolerate losing, but someone tanking just because THEY didn't think we had a chance…I walked out without saying a word to him. Never spoke to him again, would not play with him ever again (he wasn't a reg pd, but we had played every so often). He passed away a number of years ago.

Wish I hadn't been an idiot that held a grudge for that long.

That's a classic. Long out of print, but the authors released a PDF into the public domain. I have the PDF if you want it–PM me if so.
