There is a restaurant on the northside of the Hawaiian Village property called Goofy's Cafe & Dine. Please don't eat there. The food is excellent, but I don't want it crowded so I have to stand in line next time.

Assuming that E actually bid 4, a very foolish action, and it worked certainly there is no adjustment as he certainly had a bid and anything reasonable that he did, Double, 4 would lead to 4 anyway. Under no conditions is he barred when holding a hand like he had.

I'm sure BW doesn't know what's coming. My page at this very instance has an ad for a local tree service that I'm sure no one at BW has every heard of.

I would never bid when we hold a majority of the points, but less than invitational values. Even with 4=4=4=1. There is no reason to run from 1NT.

Sad ending for my fantasy bracket!

I would reverse with this hand with a stiff club and 3. Not however with this hand.

Any bets on what it will look like after three quarters?

I play Precision with a weak NT in first & second seats. We treat all hands with 5C-3-3-2 as balanced hands and either open 1NT or rebid 1NT as appropriate. We also open 2Nt with 5/5+ in minors 10-13. So all 2C rebids show 5/4 in either direction, or possibly 6D-4C. The only situation where this is uncomfortable is when you are 2=3=3=5 with the strong NT and bidding goes 1D-2S-X…Now you can choose between 3C implying 4+D or 3H on a 3 bagger. Actually a fairly rare situation.

Those commenting here seem to be saying what they think the rules should be, not what they are. The rules clearly do not require an alert. Negative inferences are not alertable in ACBL land. I think in most cases they should be, but they are not. A failure to double, when doing so would have been a “support double” is not an alert. There are numerous other examples. I believe the question was is this alertable, not should this be alertable?

I definitely believe there should be drop-in's allowed from the Spingold. As to the proper carry-over for them, I'm sure a proper formula could be devised. And I don't understand why pre-duped boards can't be used throughout. It is inherently unfair for one team to play 7 swinging boards in the same round that another team plays 7 flat part scores. I understand the Europeans play team events with duplicated boards and can't understand why the ACBL can't accomplish that.

I'm certainly bidding game opposite my partner's limit raise, so I'm not starting with diamonds.

This makes no sense. If you have clubs tricks they aren't going away. The only unusual lead would be spades, sot that would be my choice.

When I encountered this problem, I announced that there were 11 tables NS and 6 EW so the NS would have 5 sitouts. There wasn't a problem the next time.

If 3 showed extras, then I don't think he has another bid coming. If not, certainly if N can bid 6NT opposite a possible 12 count, 7 is rational.

Henry, consider the level of the competition in the in the two events. If your goal is to win glory or masterpoints, certainly the GCC sections will be where your best opportunity is…so I doubt it was the presence of all those pesky conventions. but top notch players that kept the masses from those sections.

Absolutely fabulous bridge! And isn't if fortunate that the USBF doesn't have a dress code! :)

It certainly seemed bizarre to me to not have all 4 ways.
