Good point. Bots hate leading from kings.

#100 says at matchpoints to finesse the queen and at imps to play the ace first then lead towards the queen.

The best line at matchpoints may differ since they preempted.

The bot's comment on the 4 call was “Support but no extra values”, so I guess it was the 1NT.

Out of 15 pairs, 6 pairs got to the slam and 5 made it. 5 out of the 6 South players opened 1NT and the other opened 1 and raised 1 to 4 (yikes).

Why not use 3 as a 3-card limit raise, and 3 as a four card raise with 1M-3-3 as an ask? Now you can play 1NT NF.

If trumps are 2-2 (40%) the hand is cold and you might make 7 if clubs split. Even if clubs are 5-0 you make 6 by just giving up a spade.

If trumps are 4-0 (10%) you are down.

If trumps are 3-1 I believe you need clubs 3-2, but I'm not 100% sure about that. (50% times 68%=34%)

So your chances of making 6 (or more) are about 74%. I would not be overly upset about missing this one.

I think the KI is legal under the new yellow chart, but not the green chart. Good news if your local club will play under the yellow chart.

What Nick said, plus your suit quality isn't great. I would open 1. I might open 2 in fourth seat with the same cards and distribution, changed slightly to KQT984 A7 87 KT7

The companion hand was ATxx KTx Kxx AJx. As it happens, 4 went down on defensive ruffs and 3NT will probably make.

I call it an implosion instead of a cliff.

ACBL has let the good times roll for a long time. Hopefully they have a plan in place for a membership that is a tenth the current size, because that's where we will be in 15-20 years.

The name of the championship game for the National Football League is copyrighted so people call it “The Big Game”, or the “Superb Owl”.

So I propose that we start calling the things that we win at ACBL tournaments “Ma Sterpoints”.

You heard it here first, folks!

When did this whole circle R thing happen? I see it on ACBL.org and now in this post. I find it hilarious.

Thank you for posting this beautiful hand. It's hands like this that keep me playing this game.

There are plenty of professionals and other ringers playing in the 10K events. It makes little difference.

There are also some North American GLM-eligible pairs with less than 6K points, why should they be excluded from 6K events just because they have had success?

Is this sarcasm?

There are multiple ways to win gold points at clubs.

I've seen bots give count with cards that would win tricks.

East would not cuebid clubs with that hand. With your hand, the auction might go 1-2-2-2-3-3-4-4, now it's clear there's no club control.

With the actual hand it might go 1-2-2-2-3-4-RKC, the club control has been shown.
