Sadly most roads are not that friendly in the US.

When they tabulate table counts, do they disclose the breakdowns? I'd be very curious to see counts for gold rush games and limited games vs. others.

I'm looking forward to having three robot bridge opponents at my kitchen table after dinner. Hope they also cook and clean.

That's where I saw this thing! Their valuations are, of course, a joke.

Larry. That is the best summary of Disney resort resturants I've ever heard.

Call it a wash. Sometimes the best play is for possitive *life* EV.

I would say bad club management (re: customer service) keeps me out of clubs.

How small? Why not set it up as BAM teams? Can't get any easier than that. You could also randomly match pairs into teams play a 5-8 board match and repeat as needed. Personally I would find that far more fun than playing in a 2 points for a top pairs event.

But it is correlated and we all know correlation PROVES causation. :)

Which we do not do.
If (at the club) there is one open session of 8 tables and two < 500 sessions of 11 tables each, the open is scored as a full 30 table session!

Very, very true. But the first step is acknowledging you have a problem. :)

I never understood why one game gets extra MPs when there are concurrent events.

Nice to see the proposal to make the website more friendly to non-members. That might be my first compliment to the ACBL's marketing staff in years.

There was a nice article in the club news section of the current magazine about a gay men's social club in Portland that started a bridge game as an alternative to the drinking scene. The game has seen a lot of success and good for them!

Surely this should be an example shared widely in Horn Lake Marketing to help create future outreach efforts using this as a model. The number of “non-senior” adults that are looking for alternative social scenes is not limited to gay men in the Pacific Northwest.

Marketing can keep fishing where the fish are, or find a new pond before it is too late.

Don:
I would be ok with they were competent marketing people that knew how to use analytics and strategy to find and develop new opportunities. Do we just have a bunch of PR “yes men,” and no real marketers?

Ten seconds on the Google shows the name was changed away from AS/400 in 2000 and again in 2006. Part of thinking ahead is using forward thinking language…
