This year's is the last Women's BAM (the WKO & WSwiss ended last year). The only women's events left are a pair event at each NABC.

Hi, Peg–My psychoanalyst once told me: “The need for perfection robs you of your opportunity to achieve excellence.” That advice changed my life. A perfectionist is bound to feel like a failure (you'll never be perfect), but if you let it go, you can appreciate that you've done a good job. Having taken his advice to heart, I am happier & less stressed out than I was before.

I believe the hotel said parking is $7.00/day, but that may only be for those who come for the day, but not overnight guests.

Good catch, Debbie! The heading “Open/Women's/Senior Pairs” on an orange background led me to (wrongly) believe all those events started Monday.

Peggy–The Women's Pairs begins on MONDAY, not Tuesday, according to the published schedule.

Our district had 2 teams–2 TEAMS–enter the top flight. More disheartening: the 2nd-place team won more than 20MPs!

The KO was replaced by a 4-session women's pairs (the Wagar Women's Pairs), so there's a women's pairs at each NABC. This spring is the last Women's Swiss; the BAM is the only women's team event left. As a result, the Women's Int'l Team Trials Committee, of which I am a member, eliminated the bye structure for the Trials after 2017.

Nick–I enjoyed looking at the list of winners of 10+ events, but I noticed that 2 women are included twice: Edith Kemp/Freilich (#59 & #134) & Gail Greenberg/Moss (#104 & # 109).

US2, silver medalists in the Venice Cup in Chennai, were invited, but chose not to go, mainly because of scheduling conflicts.

The drug policy was changed this year. The players tested (one from the runner-up team & 3 from the winning team in each event) are from teams competing in the final, not the semi-final. As captain of USA 2 (VC), I had to deal w/ the drug testing personnel. They explained that the change was made to insure that the winners are “clean”–at least in terms of drugs. Too bad you can't test for cheating!

FYI, they changed the time for the 3d match of the day. There's a 30-minute break between 2d-3d sessions of the RR (15 minutes wasn't enough time to submit lineups & review the opponents' convention cards).

The post on Facebook is incorrect. I am in Chennai. The Credentials Committee will meet tomorrow at 8 a.m. about Bulgaria & make an announcement before the 11 a.m. start time. Also, I just saw Balicki in the hotel lobby; he did not look ill.
