I was referring to opening 2NT with the hand you gave me above. Not the actual hand in question.

As a former junior….

Might open that hand 2NT….

(I was the unfortunate partner who opened 1H/3D in the hand above.)

When I read David Y proof, I was questioning my own thoughts.

I'm also with OP here, he should not sleep on the couch. I'm sure he will have plenty of opportunities later.

In the dummy's defense, said declarer did not take the best line.

In the declarer's defense, the dummy did not hide his displeasure very well. It wasn't after picturing all four hands, there was a discussion on optimal single dummy play.

Craig -

I actually might bid 3D over 3C in (2D) - x - (P) - 3C so partner can play 3NT with Jxx/Qx in diamonds.

When I started playing bridge (five years ago at the age of nineteen!) my first bridge partner was an older man named Marvin. Never told me his age, but did mention he “hasn't passed a hand with three aces since 1916” so I assume he was up there. Miss him dearly.

This is a hand just to overcall 1S, I guess.

Funny enough, my teacher in middle school got me interested in bridge because she claimed bridge ‘hard as hell and get you girls.’

She's half right.

Hey Dennis,

This might be a slightly personal question, but how does your girlfriend handle you traveling often for your career?

Tips for someone like me who has a girlfriend that isn't a card player, but has to deal with my constant travelings as well?

Thanks!

Hey Zach and Adam!

Any places you guys still want to go?

Wishing you guys the best for future bridge events.

P.S. Zach, LoLo says you still owe her a game. Get on it!

I had a situation a few weeks ago where a Bluhmer's bid applied…

1NT - 3H! (3-1-(5-4))
4H!

1NT holder was

AQx/xxxx/AJx/AQx

Partner was

Kxx/x/KQxxx/KJxx

I had fun. I think I botched a few hands, but nothing extremely embarrassing. (unlike last month's…)

Thanks to Victor Xu, solid game partner.
