I will have only 5 clubs 5% of the times, but here to pass is more dangerous.

I guess it is time to wait now. For a while the debate was positive, but lately it's just talking jive…

I agree with you, Boye. Also, the punishment has to be proportional to the intention of the illegal action.
I want you all to understand that we are not defending anybody, we just think that if confession and regret are taken into consideration it is going to be easier for other cheats to stop and not go all-in like crazy until they are “dead”. It is not a good idea to ignore the positive aspect of the confession.

Really? So, you think that if no evidence was shown against them, they would have played the BB?

Gonzalo, I am not being naive - if this is what you want to say - I just want to know what they have against them. I spent hours looking at the videos and I didn't see anything. At this moment, what is there against them besides the confession? I want to know. I have the right to know which kind of signals they used, if somebody knows. I lost the QF of the Transnational agianst them, so I am not being mercyful here, but as long as we all know there's no case presented against them. Do you have any information I may be missing here?

As, you can see, the analogy is just wrong.

Ok, Luis. So, in “x” years, is it ok for them to play Bridge in prison?

Not in my case, It's just how I feel about crime and punishment.

I totally agree with the idea about cheating being a terrible thing to do, but nothing compared to murder. The analogy doesn't fit because the damage in proportion is not on the same degree. I think the punishment must be severe, but nothing like “death penalty” - using the same type of comparison of what the life ban in Bridge would mean for a player - after he confessed, showed remorse and will to rehab. I may be wrong, but this is the way I feel about it.

Hey David, I thought we were told they did it in the past and as they felt guilty, they wanted to come clean. I watched the videos and I wasn't able to notice anything, just breaks in tempo during the bidding. I felt something strange when I was playing the QF of the Transnational in São Paulo against them, but I cannot prove anything. The question is: where are the evidences? I would like to know if they would get busted even without the confession.

I am really impressed by your decision and happy that the effect of the recent discoveries is so positive that you felt you should take some action. Unlikely many people that judge a lot but do little, I respect the courage to assume a mistake and hope you can come back after the time you have to “serve”. I do not believe people cannot improve, in any aspect of life, this is your first step, being honest is always sublime. I congratulate you for your decision about revealing it, the right thing to do. Learn from your mistakes, better times will come.

They could also define that on board 1 tempo is “x”, board 2 tempo is “y”…and so it goes.

Yes, but when you add up time you're making the game slower and it would be very boring.

Electronical cannot prevent cheating since you cannot break the tempo in every hand or it would take forever to finish a match. Even playing in different rooms, it is not very hard to define a cheating system based on the compasses (I was told a pair used to cheat in a similar way in the past, but I do not remember which one). The players could define what is the maximum amount of time it takes from each table to bid or play (using the separate rooms idea), and start counting the compasses after that. Since the players are “in tempo” at both tables, they could exchange informations defined by tempo ranges, a scale that can be used to show strenght, lenght, distribution and preference. As you all can see, we cannot prevent cheating, they will always find a way to decieve us, just like in real life - where criminals work hard to create a system that makes it very hard for authorities to catch them.

If the only reason was the pack of cards, it would be already a very good one because Bridge is a card game, but there are many other reasons, like it was pointed out here by many of us.

Frankenstein is going to be the new Bridge, a distorted version of a beautiful game, a robotic activity, a big laugh from cheaters will echo in the saloon…

As I said before, I do not think it is a good idea, Bridge is a perfect game the way it is.
