I say this:

1. South did not double 4 with his “long” suit. This is serious error.
2. But South redoubled 4. This is wild and hazardous action.

In my opinion both actions (specialy together) are realy controversial.

After lead (when he saw the dummy, he realized that 2 was not natural bid ) East apologized and went to the director to describe the situation.

“Irrelevant” redouble:

LAW 12 - DIRECTOR’S DISCRETIONARY POWERS
C. Awarding an Adjusted Score
….

1.(e) If, subsequent to the irregularity, the non-offending side has contributed to its own damage by an extremely serious error (unrelated to the infraction) or by a gambling action, which if unsuccessful it might have hoped to recover through rectification, then:

(i) The offending side is awarded the score it would have been allotted as the consequence of rectifying its infraction.
(ii) The non-offending side does not receive relief for such part of its damage as is selfinflicted.

1. About Multi

There are more variations. For example an opening bid of 2 shows weak two in a major suit (6-11 HCP) and strong balanced hand with a defined range

Popular innovation is the ‘mini Multi’ which contains no strong option. This opening is technicaly mini Multi.

2. You are right: it is always preferable to describe the meaning of calls rather than using their names.

3. Yes, East left the table. Director is called at the end of the session. NS reason is the lack of alert after 2 bid. Director checked the facts and decided.

For simplicity let us assume that EW do not play transfers in this situation (usualy opponents dont have exact bidding method after this opening).

Multi is a common name used for weak opening with unknow major.

Btw: in EBU Appeals Booklets 2015 is very very similar deal, see APPEAL No : 15.017 (Tournament director: Gordon Rainsford, Appeals Committee: Frances Hinden )

I apologize, but I have a small historical chapter about name Kriegel. František Kriegel was a Czechoslovak politician, physician, and a member of the Communist Party reform wing of Prague Spring (1968). He was the only one of the political leaders who during the Warsaw Pact invasion of Czechoslovakia in 1968, declined to sign the Moscow Protocol. Protocol increased Soviet control over Czechoslovakia. Kriegel saved our honor.

Puppet Stayman is possible with 5-4: 2nt-3-3 (no 5 or 4 cards major)-3 (5cards and 3-4cards).
But with 5-4 you miss 3cards fit.

Sorry. Bidding system is 2/1 with some small modification. For this poll 2 is game forcing.

Sorry, I don't want to hate, but for me Buffet Cup is an uninteresting, opaque and useless competition.

Another good option is to find out the real chance for your contract. For example you play 6spades and your trump suit is Kxx opposite J98xx.

This universal tool is essential for any experienced player. Even the best players are mistaken in some combinations. The mistake is not great, but it can also play its role.

Example: J5 opposite AQ7642. Best play for making 5 tricks?

David: East is national player with some international successes and high ethical credit.
However, in recent years she has played very little, only one competition per year. Everyone is entitled to a weaker moment.

Richard: good question. Some definition:

A. Claim Defined
Any statement by declarer or a defender to the effect that a side will win a specific number of tricks is a claim of those tricks. A player also claims when he suggests that play be curtailed, or when he shows his cards (unless he demonstrably did not intend to claim - for example, if declarer faces his cards after an opening lead out of turn Law 54, not this Law, will apply).

C. Clarification Required
A claim should be accompanied at once by a clear statement of the line of play or defence through which the claimer proposes to win the tricks claimed, including the order in which the cards will be played. The player making the claim or concession faces his hand.

There was no point c. Was it a claim or not?
