Bridge is fought in imaginary trenches.
I imagine the following conversation in
a real trench between a father and his
firstborn:

“incoming artillery fire: crouch and hides!”

“N-nice grammar Dad. L-look - a C-Kamel
at our beck, er…and call!”

“Nervous delusion! Out here you’d just
garner a wolf, son!”

The key is that when a S is ducked
Declarer wants to have no D loser
Cashing no S means stranding both
S winners. Cashing one S means
The D loser is pitched on the S duck.

Thus I suggest “strand prevention
cash”.

I didn't know Mark well personally but played against him
a number of times and his teams were always competitive
and he always a gentleman. I had heard stories of his
good deeds as well.

RIP.

I lived in Toronto for 10 years and had the pleasure
of playing with him at Audrey Grant’s Club for
one session. We were under average after 9
boards. Did he then toss cards? No way!
We wound up with 225 on a 156 average.

I really enjoyed his acerbic wit. Unfortunately
I didn’t get to play against him much.

RIP namesake.

I’ll echo what Steve says here except we played
only one set against JLall and Kevin.

I sat on a C & E committee at a long ago NABC
(but less than 40 years ago), a committee I was
on until being unceremoniously thrown off by
one James Kirkham. I can't honestly remember
however if I was on this particular case or not
but I remember the following well.

The couple were I believe the Handy's (male-female
marriage). One of them had x xx Kx AQJ9xxxx.
Vul vs not they opened 3C:

3C-4H-Pass-6NT.

In front of partner they doubled and led the DK!!!

Partner had AJxxxx behind Qxx. They ran 6
Diamond Tricks and Declarer out of frustration
pitched a Club from Kxx so they took all 13
tricks!

Great result except for the fact that they were
expelled as a consequence of it.

Clearly men do more bad stuff than women do.
However, Snapped is now on I think it's 21st
season…

None of my entries into the Limerick
contest made the cut but this seems
like the place to post this one:

Bridge is threatened by collusive cheating,
They’re worse than forger Tom Keating,
but with a sports court,
to justice distort,
Zia says we won’t take this beating!

Congrats to my partner Marty Seligman who
played very well for us, and I see that his
team just came from way down at the 1/2
to win by an IMP in the round of 64.

…clay hall!

Congrats to our opps who played very well. True to his
Poker days, Jake went “all in” on the last hand
with 6C and came out a winner.

I like the current format. It is a long
commitment but is the best contest.

I think day and a half is fine for
the Senior Trials however. But
Zia and company might have
argued that they deserved 30
more boards to try to reverse
the momentum.

Thanks for the great interviews, Oren and BW!
This one was the best because it was so detailed
and informative.
